Challenge

One of Neighborhood Sun’s clients, Freepoint Solar, reached out in need of support to understand the bill credit allocation for a project of theirs that is managed by Neighborhood Sun in Central Hudson. Compared to the data Central Hudson was providing, Neighborhood Sun’s team noticed a significant discrepancy in the dollar value of the host bank balance data that we calculated based on the generation reports, adding up to over $200k.

 

Solution

Jade Yan, Neighborhood Sun’s VP of Finance supported by the rest of our billing team dedicated countless hours communicating back and forth with Central Hudson to understand what the issue was and find ways to resolve the discrepancy. These efforts required a thorough understanding of the community solar program and the complexities of the value stack calculation, in addition to reviewing monthly generation data since the project went live. Based on Neighborhood Sun’s reconciliation, Central Hudson then revised the host production data and excluded the MTC and Community Credit that the host bank did not receive. Through our efforts, we minimized the discrepancy from 18% to only 5%.
